Karen holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She has published widely in fiction, poetry, criticism and translation. Her plays have been published and performed in Equity venues. Karen conducts public and private writing workshops around the world. She lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with her husband, playwright and photographer, Michael Downend.
